Jardins do Porto is a boutique guesthouse in Porto’s fashionable Cedofeita district.

Up-and-coming Cedofeita has seen a recent surge in popularity, thanks in no small part to its independent shops, its contemporary art galleries and its interesting and creative restaurants. In its original form as a grand 19^th townhouse, Jardins do Porto has seen the city’s fortunes rise and fall. In their renovation of the building, the Unlock Hotel Group have tried to capture the essence of old Porto – the erstwhile industrial heart of the country – combining classic elegance with the modern-day comforts of a 21st century inner-city hotel.

There are just nine rooms and suites in total – the décor is discerning and thoughtful, preserving the best of the old and combining it with the best of the new. The rear garden is a tranquil space, providing peace and shade from the midday bustle of downtown Porto, and steel-and-glass atrium helps bring the outdoors into the Jardineiro Kitchen: one of Porto’s best, plant-based vegan restaurants, celebrated for its innovative and colourful meat-free menu.
